Dr. Ryan Halley came to TUFE to teach Managerial Finance.
This course focuses on both the key theoretical and practical foundations of finance while also concentrating on the application of many financial tools. The course expounds on many of the concepts you were introduced to in your accounting class as it pertains to the decisions that financial managers must make. We will learn to evaluate the financial implications of business decisions. Some of the tools that will be studied include financial statement analysis, the time value of money; financial leverage and capital structure, capital budgeting, risk analysis in investment decisions, and market efficiency.
Our learning objects are to enable student to understand the financial management function of an organization; to determine some of the key foundational finance concepts, including: time value of money, efficient market hypothesis, principles of risk and return, capital asset pricing model, capital budgeting analysis, financial statement analysis, and other current, relevant topics; to introduce students to some of the more seminal research pertaining to finance theory (particularly the idea of market efficiency); to deliberately think through the breadth and depth of financial knowledge that a manager needs to possess and to apply financial tools by using case studies.
